Oh dear... the wiring....

It would be easy putting together a studio if you didn't need to consider the damn wiring. It almost makes it worth using plugins only to get out of the hassle of handling the wiring. Patchbays and cables can kiss my ass!

Well, think of it as a business opportunity. Anyone that streamlines the process of wiring a studio could be a very rich man. Perhaps some kind of universal D-sub format.

This is true, but according to most techs... D-sub can't beat a plain soldering job for durability and quality. Plus, in a more complex setup you need to consider a lot of grounding issues and with D-sub this makes it a bit harder to get right when you need to do a very custom grounding job between different parts of a patchbay for instance, depending on how you design the setup of course.
