This sounds better than a lot of the stuff off Once, but the vocals are just not doing it for me, unfortunately.
I don't get why some people think that Nightwish would only get the best they could get as a replacement. Or why its wrong to possibly not like the new vocalist as much. Bands change vocalists often enough, and some fans often don't like the changes. Lets see... Iced Earth fans? Helloween fans? Iron Maiden fans? Black Sabbath fans? Crimson Glory fans? I could go on and on of course. The point is... that preferring Tarja over the new gal doesn't mean that one is a hater.
This is true, Cherion. Not enough people realize this.
Anyway, there are two other samples that surfaced on YouTube:
Cadence of her Last Breath sample: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-oaeOIf4ACQ&NR=1
Sahara sample: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PEy6HaDbUOw
As always, I can't say enough good things about the music. The music itself is AMAZING!

But I don't understand why so many people aren't into the new vocalist. For one, I think her voice fits the music very well. Personally, I wish Tarja sounded more like this, as I always thought she overpowered the music. Naturally, all of the Tarja worshippers are going to revolt. This sort of thing happens to any band who replaces their vocalist. Nightwish could have easily found a soprano/Tarja wannabe, but they decided to go change things up. Is that such a bad thing? Like it or not (I take the latter position), they started a unique sound that plenty of bands now copy (After Forever, Epica, Leaves' Eyes, Operatika, Visions Of Atlantis, Within Temptation, etc.). Perhaps they decided to set a new trend. I'm trying to think of other bands that sound like Nightwish now that they've changed their sound, and nobody comes to mind. I think they're doing what any influential band should do: reinvent themselves from time to time.
Stay metal. Never rust.
