Future Sound Of London - Lifeforms. I read thousands of pages in college listening to this album, if I would have known about Ulver back then they would most certainly been spun as well.

Album to listen to in the shower

Primus - Sailing the Seas of Cheese, if only for Grandad's Little Ditty
"As I stand here in the shower, singing opera and such,
pondering the possibility that I pull the pud too much,
and the scent that fills the air, is it flatus? Just a touch!
And it makes me think of yooooooooouuuuuuu..."

Album to listen to during dinner

Hmm... I have listened to Tool while eating dinner, but I would rather go with some Bach instead, Brandenburg Concertos would work well.

Album to put on whilst entertaining guests with hors d'ouvres

King Crimson - Lark's Tongues in Aspic
This would sooth people into a nice relaxed mood right before completely fucking with their head.

Album to get the party jumping and loud!

Fear Factory - Obsolete

Album to seduce the hot chick/guy into your pants

Pink Floyd - Dark Side of the Moon

Album for your Nevada desert drive to Las Vegas with $1000 in your pocket and the hot chick from the party by your side

Album for your trip to heaven/hell
Emperor - In the Nightside Eclipse (whichever way I go, it's fitting)

As I looked at all these occasions, I realized that in each case, I either would never be in such a situation or I would never listen to music in that situation.

So, sorry. :p

'cept maybe the funeral. How about Skepticism's "The March and the Stream"? Or some jolly power metal. My death wouldn't really be much to mourn.

OK man, you get your own poll:

Best music for writing LINUX script

Best music for sacrificing a goat in the name of Odin

Best music for trekking through an evergreen forest at night in winter hunting mountain troll with a sharpened axe

Best music for pitching a tent at Wacken

My death wouldn't really be much to mourn.

Don't be daft.

Haha.. Well. Thing is when I listen to music I usually just kind of do nothing, to be able to concentrate on the music better... Background music usually distracts me more than anything. Of course I play random CD's and MP3's while on my computer, but that can be pretty much anything I feel like listening to at the moment. I will say that Ulver "Kveldssanger", "Bergtatt" and Isengard "Höstmörke" work very well with headphones for forest walks though. Skepticism is good for being reflective, Emperor "In The Nightside Eclipse" for starry winter nights.

Heh, it's just that I'm quite comfortable in my conviction that in the grand scheme of things nothing I do or am matters, so mourning me or others all that much is rather pointless. But hey, let people do what people wanna do.

Am I allowed to respond? :)

Best music for writing LINUX script: Cynic - Focus

Best music for sacrificing a goat in the name of Odin: Enslaved - Below The Lights or Mardraum

Best music for trekking through an evergreen forest at night in winter hunting mountain troll with a sharpened axe: any Viking metal, the folky parts for the trekking and the heavier parts for the hunting

Best music for pitching a tent at Wacken: something thrashy, vintage Overkill or Testament would do nicely...

I kind of understand what you're saying, but you shouldn't be so fatalistic about it - the reason being, people mourn in different ways, and the real essence of mourning is rememberance. And so if people remember you, and begin to miss your presence, then it will always be quite a sorrowful time regardless of what you do or did.

Gosh, that was deep....let's talk about happy things. Tell me something good that happened to you in recent times.

Best music for writing LINUX script: Greenpeace - Rainbow Warriors

Best music for sacrificing a goat in the name of Odin: Soundtrack for the movie TITANIC

Best music for trekking through an evergreen forest at night in winter hunting mountain troll with a sharpened axe: Madonna - "The Immaculate Collection"

Best music for pitching a tent at Wacken: huhuhuh. . . "tent". . . huhuh. . . "wack"-en. . .

Best music for writing LINUX script: I used to write C++ script, and it made me more neurotic than a hyperactive Chuhuahuahua.
Ulver - Lyckantropen Themes because it is relaxing.

Best music for sacrificing a goat in the name of Odin:
R.E.M. - Out of Time
Just for Shiny Happy People

Best music for trekking through an evergreen forest at night in winter hunting mountain troll with a sharpened axe:
Ulver - Bergtatt for that song that sounds like running through a forest.

Best music for pitching a tent at Wacken:
Sepultura - Arise
Wait, just what type of tent are we pitching here? :D

You guys are nuts. "tent" and "wack" indeed. :loco:

NAD - you have three choices for tent:

1 - "The single sleeper" - designed for people who go to Wacken on their own, don't want to meet people, and typically watch a heavy metal concert from the back row, with their arms crossed, and stand rigid like a statue in fear of looking like someone having fun. 'Cos you know, all those hot chicks in Manowar shirts might be eyeing you up.

2 - "The Tardis" - fits 4 people and has enough height to stand. The party only begins when you squeeze in 8 people, a keg, and a sleazy Vegas stripper that allows for the occasional f'riction rub'.

3 - "The Harem" - the deluxe marquee, with enough room to fit an Arab kings banquet, 12 belly dancers, a 52" television set and a weekends worth of DVD porn (with multi-angle options).

 I stand in the back, but only so I can dance/mosh/groove/etc. without fear of bumping into 6'47" guys wearing homemade Cannibal Corpse shirts complete with homemade homicide blood.
