I haven't listened to them much of late (but was crazy about a few albums there - Still Life, Blackwater Park etc.).....

Anyway, I saw Opeth on their first states headline tour in SF at a place called The Pound. It was a cool little venue, but a more cramped, hot, dangerous fire hazard you never saw, trust me. Next time around they played the Fillmore - a mid-sized to large club (next few times actually). I just got a info alert from Ticketmaster, and they are playing the Paramount theater here in May (it's in Oakland). This is really a pretty big venue. I saw Bob Dylan, Robert Plant, Sigur Ros, and several other large sellers there.

Interesting is all. I know Opeth is popular now, but man...they are really getting successful. Crazy. Cool, but crazy.

I am glad to see Opeth getting more recognition, they are awesome and they deserve it. I am very exited about the upcoming album, if the small bits of info that have been posted around are accurate, it is going to be GOOD.

It's part of a festival tour with Dream Theater, so Opeth doesn't get all the credit for the bigger venue, although I'm sure they're pulling in a significant % of the crowd.
Roundhouse Tapes is a great live album, despite Mikael sounding like a dick in his between-song banter. Looking forward to a new cd.

Ahhhh, i see. You know, I'd heard about that some time back, but failed to make the mental connection. Yeah, that explains it. The ticket update I got just said, "Don't miss Opeth!"

They are doing some headlining dates on "off" nights during the Progressive Nation tour, but San Fran is not one of them, so far.

I am specifically waiting for them to headline in this area before I go see them again.

They're been one of my favs since I really got into them about 5 years ago.
