Holy shit I just bought this album today. This album is fucking GREAT! I think I like it better than Souls of Black. And Alex is great as always. Why isn't this album talked about more than it is? :worship:

I though I remembered reading from Testament themselves that "The Ritual" era wasn't the greatest time for the band. After the album was released the band took a hiatus from each other.

As far as the album itself...not too bad. Not Testament's best, but better than any other album that came out that year if I recall correctly.

I love the Ritual. Seems lots o folks don't like it cause they think it's 'trendy' and 'commercial' or something. Hell, I like it better than most of their other stuff. Call it trendy all ya want, I call it a solid metal album... maybe a bit too solid. If I listen to it start to finish I get pretty sick of that same drum beat used over and over (the basic bass/snare/hi-hat combo)... but I simply love so many songs from it... Signs of Chaos/Electric Crown, Let Go of My World, the Ritual, Deadline, As the Seasons Grey, the Sermon, Troubled Dreams (my fav), and Return to Serenity (I also love how all the "hardcore" metalheads who say this album is all pussy and shit -always-, without fail, say that this song is the exeption and that's it's awesome).

I've always gotten strange reactions for seriously loving the Ritual.
Great album.

Still heavier than anything that came out during that time period.
The strange thing about the Ritual was seeing Testament live in SF
in 93 when they shared a stage with Green Jelly. Those 3 little pigs guys....
