If you listen to it, you will hear that Fredrik uses something called "dubbeltramp" in sweden. It´s a second pedal for the bassdrum,
and this must be impossible to play this for almost 5 minutes.

So i wonder if its a drummachine? :Spin:

Alright, first off- obviously there is no drum machine usage in this song, or any other by the band. The drumming on the sound of eight hooves is quite good, but not out of the ordinary realms of death metal drumming. Speaking as a death metal drummer, and as an admirer of all the big drumming names one could think up in conjuction with the genre, no one plays fast single strokes with their feet for anywhere near five minutes. Although Frederik certainly keeps his feet going for impressive stretches on the song, you will notice certain areas where there are fills of one sort or another where his feet can have a short rest.

Umm the double-bass pedal on almost all their songs, along with most other metal bands...its not impossible to do, just hard to do it well I think.

no problem man....by the way, there are a few easy methods of detecting whether the playing on an album is man or machine. The most obvious thing to look for is what brought the song in question to your attention in the first place. If they're are absurdly long sections of fast double bassing in a song, not broken up by any fills of anything, that can be a sign. But even more illumionating in this world of monstrous double bass drummers is the cymbal sound. The one sound that never sounds authentic when a drum machine is used is that of any crash or splash type cymbal.

what throws me off on drum machines is the hitting of the tom drums, its just way too fast a lot of the time, and it doesn't soudn realistic.

Whats the deal here... most Metal bands use a Double Bass drum... hell, go listen to John Longstreth from Origin, he goes maybe 6 times faster than fred and can maintain it for a helluva long time.

Your friend probably hasn't listened to much death Metal if he is unused to the speed of Metal drummers... tell him to do some running/jogging and build up his leg muscles... mix in an energy drink and boom... Deathgrind drummers.
