the storm of last november

I've never seen so many people agreeing that they like okra !!!!! I'm still scarred by my awful experience with it in my childhood and just the sound of the word has me running the other way.

Back on topic - I'm guessing this has to do with the new Sanctuary.....how about some rough demo samples ????

I avoided eggplant for almost 26 years, because of some dumb childhood food trauma, and when I finally agreed to try it again (2 years ago, mind you) I couldn't believe that all this time I avoided this amazing thing called eggplant.
(It's even harder to avoid it if you live in a Mediteranean area... over there, eggplant is in almost everything)
Moral of the story: EAT OKRA.

BBQ pulled pork & okra pizza = the best of the south on a pizza = the best thing EVER. Good lawd, I want to make it again right now! *squirms*

Strange how when you get a bit older all these things you hated to eat as a child suddenly become delicious. I used to HATE okra, broccoli, spinach, anything green. My mom would try to force me to eat all this and I developed a very clever way to not do it, I would pretend I was eating eating the dreaded green things but was secretly putting the stuff in my socks, even my dog wouldn't eat this stuff under the table so my socks became the only option.

Eggplant rules hard! Hated it as a kid cause it seemed to me it looked like buggers. lol
Never had okra either... that must be one of the very few things we have in common, Max.

hahaha!
I used to do the same, but my hated food as a kid, was beef dishes or fish that my mom would make... I never used my socks, (lol) but there was a huge round window around the kitchen table at our old place, and I used to pretand I took a bite and flip the food outside from the 5th floor.
Slowly but surly my plate would appear empty and my mom would let me leave the table.
One day though, my mom dropped something when she tried to hang the laundry outside, and when she went downstairs to the back yard/lawn/garden (however you call it) she saw all my lunch bites on the grass and got so mad

Needless to say, I love absolutely every dish she makes now, beef, fish anything. It is really amazing how your taste buds develope when you grow up.

and Morbides: I hear ya about eggplant: to me, it always looked like zombie flesh :zombie: It's the most unattractive veggie ever, but oh so yummy.

I did that once with a plate of spinach and 10 minutes later we had the building superintendent frantically knocking at our door, all smeared in spinach :D. Ooh boy.
