The Worse Band(s) You've Ever Seen in a Live Environment

Yeah, see, that would make sense if the metal-core bands BROUGHT PEOPLE OTHER THAN THEIR PARENTS. :/

They actually do.

A lot of the non-deathcore local bands, however, tend to bring more than the parents. I've seen plenty of power-metal grannies watching their grandchildren on stage, only to go out for pizza after the show.

Of course, unless you live in Mars...

So was it truly their performance that made them one of the worst ever for you? Or perhaps it was that you simply hated the music? That's a big difference.

This is why I won't list a band that I don't like. A performance could be perfectly fine, but if I don't like the band it would be difficult for me to rate the performance.

I will also list Galactic Cowboys if only because when I saw them, the music was too damn loud, so much so that I had to leave the room. There was no way I was going to enjoy that show.

They actually do.

I'm only speaking about personal experience. I refuse to "out" another local band, but there is one group I know of who keeps opening for power metal shows, and they don't bring anyone. It's annoying, because I've watched them at least 4 times, and for the life of me, I can't tell what they're doing besides going down on the owner to get the gigs that they do, because nobody is there for their sets.

This is just a personal annoyance, for me. When I see local bands buy-out their tickets and not bring a crowd to suppliment the show, I know that the venue loses money. And that is dumb.

When a band like Hammerfall comes to town, people come in DROVES. There is a sea of nerds, and they clear out the moment "Jimmy and the Blood Demons" come out to scream and beat their instruments. It's just not good marketing. That being said, there are very few power/traditional/prog metal bands, locally. I guess you have to work with what you've got, but this has become pretty annoying.

Ok, what exactly is it that you mean by "people come in DROVES"? How many is that? Is DROVES for you 400? 600? 20? 2000?

Jimmy and the Blood Demons is a hell of a band name though...

What I'm getting at is that I can be objective in terms of my musical taste vs. a live performance. I can hate a band's music, but have no problem stating they are a great live band based on my personal criteria.

It would appear that others cannot. That's fine as long as you are being up front about it.
Agreed. I think this also extends to reviews and reviewers. People will often say, "this sucks", when they really mean, "the style isn't to my liking".

Well, Hammerfall and Kamelot are always sold-out shows. That's what I mean by "droves", in these parts.

I doubt they would fill a stadium, but they're enough to fill a 500 person venue!

Powerglove.

I had to endure them 2 times as an opening band (first with Hammerfall, second with Firewind). Most boring and dull band I've ever seen. Music is already dull, and to add insult to injury, there are no vocals...

This! Saw them as an opener for Firewind at Jaxx a couple of months ago... sad thing was that there was a bigger crowd for Powerglove than for Firewind...

Haha.. I opened for that show! >_> Poor Firewind.. they were fabulous, but you're right that Powerglove had a bigger crowd. A lot of people came just to see Powerglove!

Powerglove gets so much hatred, but I have fun watching them, every time. Me and my fellow animation-major friends are pretty much their target audience. I spoke with them a few months ago, when they came to Jaxx, and they were very nice guys.

Stratovarius at ProgPower the year they headlined. It was one ballad/slow song after another. Hell at one point Timo Kotipelto said "So you don;t like the slow songs?" and then the band launched into 2 more. I fell asleep as did my wife and 2 college aged daughters who went with us....talk about pure torture

Dokken-1984. Loved the albums but the mix was terrible and Don was horrific in my opinion.

I had the distinct pleasure of seeing the following bands in Canada. We arrived early one night at the venue for the Guardian tour date the next day.

The Airwalk music tour was in town the night before to a packed house of 12-17 year old kids chain smoking cigarettes outside in the 40 degree weather only with really deep v-necks on, all girl pants, white belts and hoodies that barely fit their heads.

I give you Emmure:
