The Yellow and Black Attack

Good review Sixx. I was heavily into Stryper a few years back. They've written some damn heavy music and Michael Sweet is up there with the best of singers. I've found a bootleg of them in MN a year ago and he sang all their old stuff like it sounded on the album.

Simply stunning.

Good review! I totally agree. A Stryper DVD (and every band´s DVD) has to be special or, at least, having a long show not 75 minutes or anything like that.

I love Stryper music. In my opinion, my top 3 would be:
- To Hell with the devil (masterpiece)
- Soldiers under command (title track their best song and a heavy metal epitome)
- Against the law (an overlooked and underrated album)

However, my respect for Stryper is more significant since I saw them live twice in Spain (2005 and 2006). What an amazing gig they did both times!!! I do care their beliefs as Gorgoroth´s satanism. They are a heavy metal band, without doubt, and Michael Sweet is an overwhelming singer.

I saw Stryper on To Hell with the Devil tour...
Which was interesting because their street team was handuing out flyers for their gig @ the Maiden/W.A.S.P. show (Somewhere on Tour). If you recall Hit Parader had started this W.A.S.P. vs. Stryper feud. It was quite strange seeing a band throw bibles out into the audience...
I love Soliders, To Hell and Against the Law has it's momenst, but I'd have to say that Reborn edges that record out on my top three....

I don´t like "Reborn" too much. I don´t think it´s a piece of s**t like most of their spanish fans consider but I think it´s only an average album far from their first five records.

Yeah, saw the tour for Soldiers at the Universal Amp in L.A. for my first concert. Had a Stryper long-sleeve shirt w/ DEVIL crossed out on the back in high school. haha. Met them a couple times at Tower Records..got Soldiers (on white vinyl) & a To Hell w/ the Devil double-LP signed by the guys. :)

That is cool. I had the original To Hell with the Devil album with the now banned album cover. I was a die hard fan at one point.

Stryper had their cover banned:lol:
My brother was a huge fan of theirs, he would undoubtably still have it also. In my impressionable youth I couldnt see past the fact they sung bad things about the devil:p So not cool

That's the one. I remember buying that album tearing the plastic off and playing it on the day of release. I convinced my mother that she needed to go shopping, I didn't think I'd find a copy of this album anywhere being that it was metal. There were two copies and I bought one of them... I put it on the turn table and put on my father's headphones and listened to that record I don't know how many times while I completed my homework and my mother cooked dinner.

Now that's a metal story! I think pure irony would be if he put the album on and started a stanic cult in his town.

"You'd think before committing suicide or satanism to your favorite record, you'd at least read the liner notes!"
