these DI's always sound gritty

Well guys I've been trying to get these DI's to sound good, but I can't.
Through all my amplifiers they sound gritty, no matter what I do.
I tried so far:
Mesa dual recto (2channel)
5150 mk1
JCM800 2203

no way I'm gonna make them sound good.
Can you reamp a little bit of this stuff to see if it's just me or not, no need to reamp the entire DI track, few seconds would be good.
Maybe their guitar setup wasn't good so that's why they sound like this.
The performance is not top notch either.

Yeah that sounds pretty rough. I can't reamp here but I could try running them through a sim and see how that works.

OWWW... that sound like recorded through audio card.
Haven't checked DIs tho.
EDIT: just tried DI - they are awful as fuck. I could record cleaner DIs with my first laptop's sound card!

I tracked myself the DI's, but this is the first time I had really a problem.
The DI box is a littlelabs redeye, no garbage, this went into digi003.
I think that's really that Ibanez 8 string guitar they used that sounds like shit and unfortunately I hadn't an 8 string guitar myself, so I had to use theirs.

The guitar is a LTd 7 string, nice guitar, setup properly, I reamped this and lowend/topend were fine.
I hate 8 string guitars

I can't really tell, but probably there is kinda big noise floor under DI and that leads to that nastiness.
- maybe guitar wasn't good
- or something between guitar and interface was malfunctioning

Maybe you should mop your floor and it wont make so much noise

go eq the DI, take the muddy shit at 200-500hz out and boost the top end, try to make it sound closer to a crispy 81 DI.

That, and I KNOW I have an EMG 81 impulse you could throw in there to muss with it a bit.
