Thin sounding drums

Perhaps I should give it some rest and work on my main orchestral sounds, they could use some work as well.
Anyway, in a mix I think it still sounds too "thin/not loud enough" COMPARED to other songs.
I quite like my basic sound already but it's not in the face enough and that's what I'm trying to achieve atm.

(Keep in mind, the drums that I posted sound a bit different then what I used here:)

The solo'd drums sound fine for being raw unmixed tracks. The bass drum thouhg could use some eq work as it is lacking in the bass area. The reverb on the snare is too much if its going to have such a short tail and I alos reccomend some light compression for it as well. But that is how drums sound raw before mastering. With a good toned guitar and getting a bass guitar in there it will clean up a lot.

Still unless you are adding SSL plugins or harmonic distortion (anolog saturation) to the drums either during the mixing or mastering process, they won't have a very warm tone. I think by what you are saying by thin sound is the cold lifeless sound of digital. But like I said that is what analog saturation is for.

surely it has to be tweaked and it's hard to judge just hearing the drums,
but all in all it sounds really OK!

the bassdrum sounds very sweet,
the snare sounds like a big plastic
can was hit or something like that, don't like it.
same thing on the toms.

cheers

@ahjteam: to me the drums don't really sound too upfront, I think they even sound a bit too soft, but we'll see in the end, it doesn't havy any bass yet too

@Thewintersnow and xmidihcx: Yeah I turned down some bass on the kick, I turned down the 60 hz because it was kinda peeky, but I'll add a bit more again around that area.

@soultrash, lol... I added alot of high mid to it and it's kinda funny that you guys comment on the parts that I've been working on... but perhaps I overused the high mids like I turned down too much bass on the kick. Now I hear it again with fresh airs and the snare does sound kinda plastic . The toms are not really good yet too imo.

red_fl0x: how you mean quantize? quantizing isn't that about timing? (and putting everything 100% perfect in timing) so I guess you mean putting some things 'out of timing' a little bit?
I did some velocity changes but it needs some more probably.

this is an updated version:
http://files.getdropbox.com/u/970622/drumsetup2.mp3

more bass on the kick, less high mids on the snare and reduced the reverb on the snare a bit (and made it a little bit longer)
