This coming Monday's...

Actually, I wouldn't be too suprised with Finntroll as the oddball. Especially since a lot of people are talking about Mercenary....and from what I've read about Mercenary.

Finntroll are generally very upbeat and folky, and even though they have harsh vocals.....I wouldn't be suprised at all in terms of genre if they were at Prog-Power. In a few cases, such as Finntroll, it's not so much about the vocals as it is the music.

I hope one of them is Symphorce!!! I actually prefer them over Brainstorm, and Brainstorm tore it up last year. They would definitely be desrving of a 3 spot imo. We'll see...

I wouldn't mind seeing some combination of:

Falconer
Feinstein
Royal Hunt
Dream Evil
Ironware
Painmuseum
Symphorce
Nocturnal Rites
Mystic Prophecy
Lullacry
DSG

I can think of a number more, but most have either already appeared in the U.S., or have been at PP in the past.

One of the many reasons I am more than likely getting to Wacken this year is too see Finntroll even if the rumored US tour/mini tour is correct.

They definitely would be a WTF to alot of people. Their vocals aren't more harsher than the dm vocals of into eternity or mercenary.

For those that don't know, finntroll mixes a heavier metal with a finnish polka called hummpa. I probably spelled it incorrectly.

I just hope riverside and orphaned land make it to a future PP.

Hmm, I don't have many WTF bands but I guess a WTF would apply if it were:

Luca Turilli solo
Tiamat (I would think too Gothic although I'd fucking love it!)
Evereve
Impelliteri (A WTF surprise more than anything)
Lake of Tears (see above)
Nostradameus (see above above) but the new cd is tight
The Gathering (too mellow)
Susperia (Too heavy for most, but I'd love it)

Actually, I'd be thrilled with any of those but those would be some WTF bands for many people. God, I wish it would be Tiamat.

By 'North American exclusives', that means no U.S. tour and ONLY the PP appearance?

Arcturus would still fit that bill.....as would several other bands I'd love to see.

*hopes*

I'd love for it to be one of Gus G.'s band, so either Firewind or Nightrage. They both have new albums (Nightrage's will be out by September I think). Dream Evil would be awesome even without Gus, but I reaaaally would love to see Gus perform live with any of his bands.

Stratovarius is no where near any form of cheese. Rhapsody yes at times.
You have to come up with some real good reason to talk shit about Strato being cheese.

ok maybe not pure 100% grade A Wisconsin dairy... so hows about every album being the same? ala ACDC?

Ok, I'll give ya that when it comes to the faster songs they have become repetitive, especially on both Elements. But as far as lyrical content they are not cheese at all, like I said maybe when it comes to a few tracks on both Elements. But the stuff on Episode, Visions, and Destiny is fantastic, the repition came afterwards. Fourth Dimension and Dreamscape are rather interesting and do not follow too much of a formula.
