This is revolutionary: new daw control system

I always thought that the point of a control surface is to let you physically make adjustments to your mix giving you the "feel" of using a console. Sliding your fingers along a screen is even farther away from this goal than using a standard mouse.

I'm not sure if anyones tried to navigate their daw using the touchpad on their laptop...good luck doing anything with speed. :erk:

I also like being able to take my eyes away from my control surface and vice versa.

I never understood why people like buying MIDI mixers and interfaces...especially on ones that expensive...its not going to make your mixes sound better...if you're andy and you have the cash, getting a full-blown mixer makes sense, but besides that, there's so many other things I'd spend the money on

The great things about these units is that you can manipulate two (or more) faders at the same time. It´s VERY handy when you are trying to find the perfect balance between, for example, kick and bass, or two pads on the background, etc. Not to mention when you are producing sound fx tracks for a video. This unit are better than a normal touchscreen monitor because it has this multi-touch feature. imagine using it with a parametric eq changing two differents bands at the same time. That would be great.
But, indeed, too expensive.

Because I can mix a track in half the time with a control surface when compared to a mouse. And at the end of the day my hands don't ache.

No, you're not the only one. I had an MCU for Sonar. When I switched over to SawStudio, it was even more tightly intergrated than Sonar was! However, I found myself using it less & less as SS is a very different animal & Bob really understands the idea of "ergonomic flow" with a mouse & keyboard. After a while, the MCU became a very expensive & pretty paperweight. I sold it.
