The Fall Of Every Season – From Below (Aftermath Music)

This Norwegian one-man band fuses the mournful strains of Agalloch with the textured acoustic-laced death/doom of Novembers Doom. It's an album wrought with memorable melodies and riffs that linger on, all brought out with pristine production. The acoustic interludes are varied in their picking patterns and exploratory in their chord progressions, eschewing the sound of a band carelessly forcing in subtlety. The occasional clean vocals have more than a slight whiff of Mikael Akerfeldt's soft croon, but luckily the songs manage to stand on their own merits.

Professional in every sense of the word, this tightly-executed slab of versatile doom metal succeeds by combining adventurous songwriting, seamless execution, and those wailing, melancholic leads that'll have anyone who wishes Opeth were a doom band wetting themselves with glee. Fans of the last Agalloch album should also check this one out.

...I dunno.

Ken, you're an incredible human being my good mang. If you're ever so unfortunate to make my acquaintance you will be bombarded by liters upon liters of alcohol fueled libations at my expense.

I'm in an Erik like frenzy!!! That's why!

Ali, you need to secede from this shitty as server. Take your 60 dollars elsewhere.

Ahhh fuck it.

I've got "From Below" like a few days ago. It's good. But there's something missing, imo. I still like Agalloch and Opeth more.

Hrm.. this isn't bad, but it really is missing something. I probably need to listen to the whole album. The death metal vocals don't really fit either, and aren't at a good mix.

The melancholic leads are pretty ace though.
