So this is a work in progress for my band, and I just can't seem to get the guitars to sound like I want. They seem a bit distant to me and I want to make them more in your face. Any advice would be appreciated.

sounds good to me. maybe try to boost some spots in the higher midrange and clean the low mids?

I have a multiband cleaning up the low mids so I don' t think thats too much of a problem. I have tried adding a little 3K to it but starts to sound too biting if I'm not careful. I blame the fact that its a cheap Ibanez with 4 month old strings. The last time I recorded it sounded better but that could also be the moody amp amongst a million other things.

that snare should piss you off more than the guitar tone.
I went through a stage where I was hell bent on a certain snare sound a while back. Now I've chilled out a little and am happy to have one that cuts well. More like settled, lol. What do you suggest instead? If you have an example and/or sample of a snare you think would work better that'd be great.:Spin:

i just read my post and it sounded rude... i really didn't mean to sound that way, so i apologize if you thought i was.

but anyway, steven slate drums... well worth the money but if you cant afford that then the sturgis snares from what i hear are good and cheap. (i personally haven't used them). some samples that are extremely good and nobody seems to use are the truth samples. i blend those with ssd sometimes and they sound beautiful. pm me and ill send you them.
