METAL... nuff said!
That's it, guys, we're on the pathway to GLORY AND VICTORY

We're tired of everyone asking when we're gonna have a full album, so here it goes. We got a big old brick warehouse that a local group transformed into a very modern recording studio, with a huge tall ceiling and big brick walls for natural organic room reverb acoustics. We'll be the first full-length production done in this studio for a metal band and they're excited about our style of progressive SUPERmetal.

9 songs, the 15-minute epic finally gets fully recorded, and we're still changing the songs in little tweaks and quick ideas. All we gotta do is get the producer in safely from the airport Thursday night and get him drunk enough to think we're great! Marathon recording, 6 days 10 hours minimum a day, should be able to get everything we need.

Pics, videos, studio updates, all to come.

We are so awesome, our arrogance isn't enough to portray how arrogant we are.

Glad to hear you arrogant fucks are hitting the studio. Good luck with the recordings. Have fun and let us know how everything goes.

Break a finger. Literally.

Day One - We are here.

We're getting people over here slowly to pack up gear and head to the studio for Day One. Getting lunch and then.... CHAOS

UPDATE, 5pm: gear loaded in, setting up and figuring things out. Gotta Mic this massive drumkit before anything cAn be planned.

Day 2

Started at 11am. Engineers had to buy long speaker cables to remote-mic cabs away from the amps. Difficulties getting a good headphones mix, and putting the right preamps to the right mics and channels. These guys can hear whether they like a particular microphone to a particular source so quickly! I'd be trying to make a good sound from a wrong mic, heh heh.

Pat's kit needed moongels on the new tom heads and duck tape coils underneath the bottom heads, and they spent plenty of time tweaking that kit. Their ears can recognise the faintest little details, that make the difference between okay tone and great tone. All of a sudden, "Hey it sounds like that snare is loosening up." Lo and behold, a lug screw on the top head was vibrated loose. Experience, folks. Priceless.

Took us quite a few runs through the 11 minute big daddy song. There are lots of places to screw up in a song this big! They told us to think big and airy, and to step away from the song a bit. So we slowed it down, concentrated less, and let the song flow. Made a huge difference! Doing vocals is a bit difficult. We don't have auto-tune crap, so we gotta get it the ol fashioned way... Takes after takes after takes!

I made an accidental combination of two bass noodle fills, and I'm so glad we captured it. Me likey. Gonna have to remember it now for live shows! Heheh.

Not as efficient as we wanted to be, with all the technical customizing. But the work is done. We simply concentrate on the performance, not the gear and mics and headphones and blah blah blah. Tomorrow will be better.

Day 3

Got another good song down, tried to get a third started but Pat's snare is sounding weird. He ran to get new snares and heads to see if we can find a better combination. I got Jeremy bringing his snare as well.

We'll do some vocals while waiting for gear. Chinese food sounds spectacular right aboot now.

The Lions are not inspiring us to perform at our vicious best. Therefore, time for some more comedy!

Update:

If the song feels a little loose, get that click track in there. Oh man, are we happy campers. Tried to get Monster with five or six takes and felt loose, got tired of trying over and over. "We can try a metronome..."

Eeeeeexcellent.

Temple is next.

Day 4

Frustration can negate all the positive achievements of the day. We were warming up for a song, just finding our speed, our mojo, getting our minds relaxed and in the zone. Fuck me, if he wasn't rolling tape while we jammed, and it sounded BRUTAL.

But we stopped.

And he was heartbroken.

We must rest, and attack it tomorrow. Three more takes all the way through it tonight, we couldn't drop back into that pocket. So we'd recharge and unleash the fowking fjooory!

Two songs to go.
