Whats up all..... well, I've been bitten by the Aussie bug, and I'm jonesing for more. Apparently there is a HUGE scene there... I guess this is what happens in extreme heat landscapes, as opposed to extreme cold landscapes (where you get Immortal and Darkthrone).

So, far this is what I've gotten into:

Nocturnal Graves - Satan's Cross (playing right now)
Nocturnal Graves - the 2 demos, and the Necromancer EP thing
Abominator - everything, love these guys long time
Destroyer 666 - got a few albums, but hasn't really struck me yet

I'm making this thread because apparently theres a shitload of other great bands all over the place down there... Destruktor, Gospel of the Horns, Bestial Warlust, Urgrund, Denouncement Pyre, Nocturnal Vomit....

WHERE DO I START????

So far, Nocturnal Graves has made a good impression, I'm loving this full-length. The Necromancer EP was alright, the demo collection was eh... I'll have to listen to that again. Abominator I love when I want evil blast beats and crazy aggression; that band would be so much better if they chilled out for a second and grooved on some thrash mid-tempo stuff. They'd be the next Morbid Angel, but alas... tis not to be.

Destroyer 666 just hasn't really grabbed me yet. They've got GREAT fucking production, and to me seem like the "grown up" version of Abominator et al, but I guess i have to listen to them some more. I keep hearing about Bestial Warlust every 2 seconds tho...

so, can someone help? i'm EXTREMELY interested in this, because apparently this is the exact style of music my band plays, except we're from Albany, NY, and I'd NEVER EVER heard a single bit of Aussie 'war metal' when I wrote any of our stuff...

also, on an unrelated note... I just realized how, ummm... EPIC, Nunslaughter is, as an entity. 40 something releases?@? What are they like? Where do I start?

Thanks a ton guys

Nunslaughter are fucking great. Oldschool fucking thrashy Death Metal awesomeness. No frills, no wankery, all satan. Way more than 40 releases though. Check out the MA page. Anyway, The full lengths Hell's Unholy Fire, Goat and Hex are a great place to start. They have some good compilations as well such as Grehi Otza and Nunslughter.

You can pick up lots of Nunslaughter goodness over at http://www.hellsheadbangers.com/.

Apart from the ones you've already mentioned:

Trench Hell - Southern Cross Ripper
Shackles - Traitors Gate
Assaulter - Salvation Like Destruction
Vomitor - Bleeding the Priest
Innsmouth - The Departure of the Shub-Niggurath
Sacriphyx - Lone Pine
Mongrels Cross - s/t
Grenade - The Howling Damned
Sadistik Exekution - The Magus

Maybe not all the exact style you're after, but they should hopefully keep you busy for a while! Enjoy.

yeah i've heard of Sadistik Exekution before, I remember they had a CD review in Metal Maniacs a long time ago of their "Fukk" album, or something like that

Is it just Australian bands in general or a specific style?

If it's the first one, I've heard good things about The Berzerker and Blood Duster. Haven't really got a chance to listen to them much myself though.

I endorse these choices.

What kind of dark/crushing? Cuz I worship Incantation worship but just kinda like most Entombed worship.
