Thoughts on new Coheed and Cambria?

Glad you liked them. It truly is a talented band!!

I just hope to catch them live at some point.

I've seen them several times and all but 1 time they brought it and were quite good (especially when 3 was playing with them ). That said Modernwizardry and I went to a show where Claudio toured without the bassist and drummer. The mix was changed for that show and the fun was utterly lost. Ever since then I've had a twinge of drepression and despair when I think of Co & Ca.

That said with a real lineup again I bet they still put on a helluva show - try to catch them early in a tour as Claudio's voice tends to wear down and the fans will have to carry it home.

Good to hear you like the material Brian.

I saw them on two of the Neverender shows in Chicago and then in Lolla last year. They put on a great show every single time they play. Just be weary as their fans can get a little crazy, which I wasn't fully expecting the first time I saw them.

I'm basically just going to start at the second release and move my way forward. :kickass:

We'll have to agree to disagree. Music is pretty subjective so to say it IS their best is pretty bold.

You find me any other album, by Coheed or not, with songs as awesome as Everything Evil, Hearshot Kid Disaster, Godsend Conspirator, Junesong Provision, and Time Consumer and I'll give you that point.

Until then, you're wrong!

This album is pretty amazing. It's a lot darker, a lot more "progressive" than NWFT. It seems similar to Burning Star IV, but much better. There are just enough catchy melodic choruses to keep you locked into the deeper stuff surrounding those songs. It's definitely the kind of album that rewards repeated listens. But as opposed to, say, the latest Orphaned Land album, which was such an impenetrable mess that I couldn't be bothered to listen to it more than twice, this album keeps me coming back. I wouldn't say it's my favorite C&C album, but it's great.

Are you talking about their indie debut or the label debut?

I guess technically Equal Vision is an indie, but it's pretty big as far as indies go, but yeah I'm talking about Second Stage Turbine Blade. It was reissued once or twice but I don't know if that was through Equal Vision or not.

I'll check it out then. I was assuming since it was an indie release it would be hard for me to get my hands on. :kickass:
