I spent the weekend listening to the new CD over and over again and I am happy to say that King has delivered a pretty solid collection of new tunes for us. Of course, he will never top the work on "Conspiracy", but I think this is right up there with "House of God" for his best work in the last 20 years. I wish he would go for a little heavier mix with some more low end, but the lead guitars are just fucking awesome on this - the tone of the leads is great and Andy has really delivered some epic solos on this one. If you are a fan of KD, or guitar solos - you should enjoy this one.

I've listened to it 3 times now and just can't get into it. It doesn't suck or anything, but right now I'd say it's the worst since The Graveyard (which is the only KD I don't listen to on a semi-regular basis). I'm sure I'll like it more as time goes on. That's usually the was it goes with me.

I thought it was just good at first.
After quite a few listens, I'm really loving it. King seems to be experimenting with his vocals here, and it really sounds incredible.
Some of the melodies are amongst his best, especially the title track, which just blows me away.
The guitar work is jaw dropping.
I really love the drum work. But apparently, there is a whole controversy with that.
but with all that said, I just don't feel the same way about this album as I do about the previous one. The Puppetmaster is probably my second favorite KD album, right between Abigail (probably my favorite album of all time) and Them.
None of the songs on the previous album reminded me of anything else he's done, and the atmosphere was just jaw dropping. I felt more of a connection to the character and setting (even before watching the DVD). I really felt like I was there, watching everything as it was happening. Which is part of the reason why I would compare it to Abigail.
But Give Me Your Sould Please is definitely an album worth picking up. Give it a few listens, and let it grow on you.
