Thrash/Death mix

Mixed this today. The overheads have a lot of bleed (I didn't record the song) Kick is replaced, snare is a blend. 6505 + 8100 on a side, 5153 + 8100 on the other side. Shit load of EQ on the guitar tracks (I cut a lot of 200-400Hz). VCC, a bit of EQ, compression, L1 and MPX on my 2buss. Let me know what you think!

Listened to it today with fresh ears. The overall sound is not too bad imho but it seems that guitars/bass are still a bit boomy and there are some level issues (kick a bit too loud, snare & oh not enough...). I played the song about 1000 times last night so maybe I'm wrong. Feedbacks are very welcome as usual!

The mix is quite scooped. Doesnt sound bad but mixes without mids sound lifeless to me.

Yah. It's pretty scooped I'm afraid. But I was aiming for a death-metal sound if that makes sense. I tried adding some mids when I played it yesterday but it immediately sounds "plastic" to me. If you guys think it sounds decent, it's cool and I'd like to know if everything glues correctly and if there's an "overall coherence" to you. Thanks mates for listening!

Back on this stuff today. I tweak some EQ and levels here and there including a bit more low mid in the guitars. I bounced two version: one with Brit 4k in the 2buss and another one with RC Tube which brings more mids. Then I "mastered" the files in another session using RC Tube again + T-racks clipper for both versions. I prefer the RC mix.

Found a little moment to work on this mix. I tried free IVGI from Klanghelm (pretty awesome plugins!). There is one mix with IVGI on the master buss and one without. Please share your thoughts about the sound!
