Friday Line-Up:

Stormzone
Hailing from Belfast, Stormzone have come up with an absolute cracker of a debut album on Escape Music. Released just a few short months ago, Caught in the Act has drawn many favourable reviews from fans and critics alike easily mixing a brand of classic rock ala Rainbow/Whitesnake and up tempo died in the wool melodic hard rock tracks such as Crying in the Rain. Vocalist John 'Harv' Harbinson is a living legend in Belfast. Having played with bands such as Sweeet Savage, Emerald, Den of Thieves, he now also finds himself at the mike stand for a newly reformed Fastway featuring Fast Eddie Clarke. Firefest will be Stormzone's first appearance in England and they will be an act to see. Get there early or else you just may miss out on one of the surprise packets of the year.

Steve Grimmett Band
What can you say about Steve Grimmett that hasn't been said already, other than to qualify the fact that he is one of the premier metal vocalists of the last twenty odd years. First coming to prominence with Grim Reaper, the band sold in excess of 200,000 copies of the debut album. Follow up 'Fear no Evil' saw the band tour with Uriah Heep, Victory and Deep Purple before the emergence of the Max Norman produced 'Rock you to Hell' an all time British metal classic. Following the Grim Reaper split, Steve emerged with Lionsheart, the self titled debut released through Music for Nations on 1992 and quickly followed by the equally excellent Pride in Tact in 1993. A five year wait ended with 1998's 'Under Fire' produced by Tyketto's Brooke St James, and finally 'Abyss' emerged through Frontiers in 2004. Since then The Steve Grimmett band have toured all over the world, and are currently in the studio mixing a brand new album with Denis Ward (Pink Cream 69) which will be released in early autumn 2007, featuring Ian Nash (Lionsheart) and Pete Newdeck( Di Anno) . Firefest is delighted to have the boys along, and they have promised an action packed set laced with Grim Reaper, Lionsheart and Grimmett band material.

Soul Doctor
Led By Tommy Heart of Fair Warning, Soul Doctor's brand of hard rock has seen them emerge from the shadow of Fair Warning and establish themselves in their own right. The Self titled album arrived to tremendous fanfare in 2001 and quickly established the band in Japan, charting at #6 in the international charts. 'Systems go Wild' and 'For a Fistfull of Dollars' continued to establish the band and their relentless touring in Europe and the far East has established the band as a premier live act. Their particular brand of hard rock has been likened to Bonfire meets AC/DC with their own twist on it. Either way it will be Soul Doctor's first show in the UK and definitely one not to be missed.

Demon
After nigh on thirty years, Demon will finally pack their gear away for the last time after FIREFEST. Coming to prominence through the NWOBHM movement of the early 80's, albums such as 'The Unexpected Guest' and 'The Plague' elevated the band to the major leagues, in mainland Europe, particularly in Germany where they have toured consistently and released a string of successful albums over the years. Haing decided to call it quits, Demon's appearance at Firefest will be their last ever UK gig (there is a final German tour taking place after Firefest). So if you wish to see the band for the very last time on English soil, then Friday October 26th, Nottingham, Trent University is it!

Threshold
Possibly the best kept secret in UK rock history, Threshold are finally making huge strides in terms of recognition in their native country. The band are no secret on the continent or indeed in the USA where appearances at festivals such as Metal Dayz, Bloodstock and Prog Power USA have seen the band cement and enhance their reputation as one of the most innovative and musically talented bands to emerge from the UK in many years.
Previous albums such as 'Subsurface' and 'Critical Mass' helped establish the band as genuine contenders , but it is with the universally acclaimed 'Dead Reckoning' that has seen the band draw magnificent plaudits from magazines worldwide ."Inventive structures, epic choruses and hooks sharper than knives." Rock Sound (UK), "Truly spectacular, a real gem." Hard Rock House (UK).
In fact the praise is nigh on never ending with new converts to the Threshold cause daily. Described by Powerplay (UK) as "heavier, darker yet more accessible" than their previous work, "Dead Reckoning" is hailed by Aardschok (NL) as a "great new album by a band that seems to have reinvented itself", and which according to Scream (NO), "could very well take the band to a new level of stardom".

..."I hope Threshold are going to be doing it.....that would guarantee my appearance" ...

Does this mean we'll be seeing you down the front at Day One then Steve?

Actually Day One is looking a much more tempting line-up than the main event! ... with the exception of Jorn of course ... but it's a lot to pay to see just that one band. :err:

Definitely going to Day One though, simply can not miss seeing Threshold again. I noticed they'll be playing the Rotherham Classic Rock thing shortly afterwards as well ... tempted ...
