Hey all, I've put it off for too long - Been getting horrible stuff going on with buffer set to 128 with only a few plugins working and using a Profire 2626.

I've heard it a hundred times; "get a TI chipset".

Well, I'm searching for one but my searches are coming up inconclusive.

Can anyone throw me out an exact model or anything? I don't really know a whole lot about computer guts and my friend pretty much built this PC for me.

Well this looks something for you. [ame]http://www.amazon.com/SIIG-FireWire-2-Port-PCIe-NN-E20012-S2/dp/B000G6U8VY/ref=sr_1_fkmr0_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1428860018&sr=8-2-fkmr0&keywords=PCI+FIREWIRE+400+CARD+-+IEEE1394a+-+TEXAS+INSTRUMENTS+-+TI+DUAL+CHIPSET+%2F+FOR+SOUND+CARDS[/ame]
Purchased a similar for my pc a couple of years ago.

I bought a super cheap TI-chipset (can't remember the model or anythin, but it cost like 15e or something) because of some audio dropouts that didn't affect the recordings but were really annoying. Boom, all audio problems gone.

Not much help from me, but i just wanted to share the even the cheaper ones can do the trick.

I tried several cheaper cards for my Steinberg MR816CSX and had problems until i got this one
http://www.lindy-usa.com/firewire-8...e-800-1-x-firewire-400-pci-express-51182.html
Costs a bit more (~60€ / 74$) but solved all my problems.

edit:
I just realised that i am not 100% sure if the above model has a TI chipset. It was recommended at the Steinberg forum and worked for me.
A model with TI chipset would be [ame]http://www.amazon.com/LINDY-FireWire-Chipset-Express-51180/dp/B000TQLUJU[/ame]
Only FW400 though.

Got this one from Amazon:

Syba Low Profile PCI-Express 1394b/1394a (2B1A) Card, TI Chipset, Extra Regular Bracket SD-PEX30009

Less than $30.
