You would think these folks would be seriously persuing a new space craft, but no, the same old pieces of shit they have been using for TOO long.

I would be PISSED if I saw that in space! Too bad NASA killed the Air Force project for the new style craft. I mean, if we are going to be putting taxes into this, at least lets get something that doesnt fall apart after blasting through the atmosphere! WHO IS WITH ME!

NASA freaks me out, they have killed so many astronauts its damn right ridiculous. You got to be a little crazy and ready to roll the dice when you work for those luny scientists.

Agreed. The shuttle is 35+ year old technology. It is interesting to see the new next genaration spacecraft (http://www.nasa.gov/mission_pages/constellation/orion/index.html) goes back to the Apollo-era capsule design (a safer model). Barring plasma transport or some othe science-fiction stuff, this is probably the best way to go about space exploration. I would like to see more private investment, as the Earth's future will absolutely depend upon gaining resources from outer space. And government bureaucracy is usually not the best way to go about any venture.

It really does make you question the validity of the lunar landings when they can't ever seem to get the comparatively simple shuttle right and consistent. I'm not joining the conspiracy theorists, and I've heard plenty of evidence on both sides, but it does raise an eyebrow. Obviously it would be ridiculous to think that the thousands of people worldwide who were involved would all be hush, hush. Someone would have uncovered something by now.

The secret is probably still in Al Capone's vault.

I believe the moon landing happened. I am sure there is a way to see that flag we planted up there somehow.

Conspiracy theories are funny. Ive been to many of the "area 51" sites out in Nevada and the only thing there is the DOE (oops I signed a non disclosure paper!!)

The only blatant lie I ever saw the US government tell was when I was watching CNN a few days after 9/11 and sitting in Pakistan..and the gov. spokes person denied we had troops in Pakistan. I think that denial still goes on today which is funny.

I belive NASA is safe compared to the numbers offed in the Soviet (and to some extent the Chinese) spaceprogram.

Quite true. But NASA is notorious for using prehistoric computers.

They still use Univac machines, because they are so interconnected with their systems (and cost so much, and have no budget for newcomputers).

That's right. NASA technicians have to walk inside their most important computer systems and unscrew vacuum tubes.

My aunt does some contract work for NASA. She's let it on that she uses programming she learned in college in the early 1970s to write new programs for those guys.

If this is true....and I have no reason not to believe it...that is pretty scary. Man with all the money the US pisses away, this is one of the areas we shouldn't fuck with. Peoples lives are at stake. As noted before, I hope the commercial (private) sector can get their collective shit together and give NASA a run for its money.

Blatz for you all....
