Timo Tolkki Launches "New" Band

Folks;

Let me sum this all up in 3 easy words. In the words of that great intergalactic philosopher, Cosmo G. Spacely.......

"KOTIPELTO.....YOOOOOUUUUUUUUU'RRRRRRRRREE FIIIIRED!!!!!!"

:lol::lol::lol:

Though I understand the arguments against Stratovarius's last album, I dug it. It's not their best work, but it shows a side of the band that we never got to see (and, according to most people, a side that we didn't want to see). I thought the Elements albums were great, especially the second one. Conversely, I thought that Destiny and Infinite had an element of "Ho-hum, let's make another album, I guess." I don't think they're bad, but they're not the kind of follow-ups you want to hear after Episode and Visions.

Anywho, I don't think Tolkki's ever going to be happy with a project for long these days. I see him jumping from one thing to the next for the rest of his career. It's a shame, as I would like Stratovarius to keep it up.

Stay metal. Never rust.

I hope the REAL Strato reunites in a few years, but for now, let's just sit back and see what the Timos can do musically apart from each other.

Oh, OK. I had one of their CDs once. I purposely missed their PPUSA performance. Way too much cheese for my liking, and I'm a power metal fanatic at that!

You missed one of the best PPUSA performances ever. And Thunderstone is one of the LEAST cheesy Euro power metal bands ever to pick up instruments. Listen to Evolution 4.0 and then tell me what you think of them. (And keep in mind that I was the one passing out the Stratovarius compilations back on the old Savatage board, so if anyone knows cheesy power metal, it's me. ;) )

Oh yeah, right.:lol: The old Savatage days. I remember them so well and so fondly, too.:headbang: OK. I'll see what I can do to hear some of that 4.0 stuff, OK?:cool:

No, Timo has broken up Strat for good. This comes as a press release this morning. The official release of Revolution Renaissance is June 6th. It is basically the next Stratovarius release and does NOT sound like the mellow Timo project. This according to Frontiers.

After a long and careful consideration, Timo Tolkki has decided to end Stratovarius. There are several reasons behind this decision that can be read on a official statement posted on Timo Tolkki’s Official Website: www.timotolkki.com

Timo has formed a new band called REVOLUTION RENAISSANCE, and in the silence he has been devoting all his time and efforts preparing the first release of his new band. The debut album is entitled ”New Era” and will be released on June 6th 2008 on Frontiers Records. The album is a masterpiece of melodic Power Metal, taking the listener straight back to the Visions-era Stratovarius. In fact, ”New Era” is the album that was meant to be the next Stratovarius album.

Instead, Timo called a few friends for the recording sessions and the album features all the lead vocals from such legends as Michael Kiske and Tobias Sammet, along with Timo’s blistering lead guitar lines and melodic Power Metal anthems that made him one of the pioneers of the style and trademark performers of the style. Revolution Renaissance witnesses a rebirth, a new era for Timo Tolkki and his music.

Tolkki is looking for a permanent line-up for the band, so if you are interested, check out the details on www.timotolkki.com for details on how to apply.

I am saddened and disappointed that Strato as we know it is over, but life and music must go on. I look forward to hearing projects featuring both Timos in the future. Here's hoping for a reunion in 10 years!
