tips for clean tracks

hi again , for the real drums, how do you clean the toms tracks? silent detect?, manual cut?

i have problem with the manual cutting. the sound of the toms track ( eq + comp) affect the general sound of the mix. when i cut and clean the toms track i can listen a diference of sound ( master mix) in the parts of the tom hits ( again, because the track have eq and comp for toms). what can i do? for best clean?

why is it bad to use a gate again...? iirc got something to do with the attack, right? it's used live though and works fine there for what i'd say.

Are you refering to the bleed on the tom tracks while the toms are being played? It's changing the sound of everything else?

Does "the toms track" mean, all the toms are on one track?
