to play or not to play?

You guys blew $300. That would be a lot better invested in the local scene, even if it sucks, to at least build up some sort of fan-base other than a "friend-base." That money could goto stickers, CDs, t-shirts, or other merch to give out to get a local fan. I would rather have a few local fans that love us than 1 fan 4 hours away who won't see us again.

Yeah, I know....we're basically bending over and giving our money away. I explained that it's probably not a good idea, they didnt seem to really feel the same. They seem more worried about just getting the name out. What's the worst that could happen? We lose $300? We made that $300 within 2 weeks/2 shows selling $1 demos and tickets.

Yeah, but just because you made that money easily doesn't mean you should just throw it away.
The fact is that you're not just losing $300 but you're supporting pay to play, which is a system that is so wrong it's not even funny.
