to tape or not to tape...

I've been experimenting with mixing with the technique in the "making your tracks sound larger" thread, and so far I haven't been having much luck with my own mixes. Heres a copy of one of my mixes/masters with and without the tape mixing/mastering.

I just need opinions on whether the tape actually makes it sound better.

I like the non-tape one better.

non-tape is better, although it's too harsh in the high frequencies(over 10k). The tape one just sounds dull, I think your overusing the effect.

Something is clearly not right with the tape version. Which Tape plugin did you use?
