to800 behringer

i just got a ts7 for 25 bones on ebay, it sounds awesome infront of my mesa, really tightend up things. you can get new old stock ones for 40 on ebay

*Sigh...*

Get a TS7. $40 USD, built better, same circuit as the TS9.

Shane, the only problem with Keeley's mods is that they tend to remove the mid boost that actually makes the TS pedals useful. I love his pedals when they're used on their own, but they aren't bringing much new to the table compared to the stock pedals for what we're going for.

the bad monkey pedal is also a good choice. It's the same price as the ts7 or behringer. It has a treble and bass control rather than just one tone control which I think is cool.

I've got one. It's OK around the house. I didn't get it to be the be-all-end-all, just a wild hair one day to buy a cheap pedal for a solo boost during recording. I prefer the FAB overdrive sound-wise actually, but if you want the TS circuit - get something in a more sturdy housing with true bypass.

one friend can make me a ts808 with CHIP JRC4558, true bypass , what do you thnk?

yea i need this only for boost on recordings, because in the real life i play drums the most of time :)

might be cool if you have him put a switch on it for being able to switch between diodes for boss super OD clipping and those for TS clipping or something, then you gots two pedals in 1. otherwise, you might as well just get one of the aforementioned versions, re-issues, copies, etc. out there of the TS that meets your price range.

I also like the Bad Monkey. In addition to being inexpensive and having individual bass and treble controls, the Bad Monkey also has two outputs, which I find to be very useful. And it sounds at least as good (to my ears) as the ts9 Tubescreamer I have that I paid twice as much for.

My Keeley-modded TS808 sounds better than any other tube screamer variant I've owned (TS-9, Maxon OD 808, Maxon OD 820, stock TS-808.)

On their own they're great, no doubt about it. I just don't go for the mods that add bass and treble in front of amps. Great guy, too - very helpful, especially if you want to get into modding.
