Anyone run into the problem where every time a drummer hits the kick it sets off an annoying hum in any rack toms that are attached to the kick? I have a feeling I can probably fix it by messing with the tunings of the drums and muting the tom a bit since I wasn't using anything to mute it at all, but what do you guys normally do?

gate the toms :p

I've wondered this same question many a time, but I've never actually found it to be a problem after gating...:loco:

never gotten it in rack toms, but our drummers floortoms sing like motherfuckers every bassdrum stroke... how do I fix that?

one way is to tune your floor tom so that it doesn't sympathetically ring out when you hit the kick. then you tune rack toms based on the floor tom, as opposed to the other way around. the downside is, you're not necessarily tuning the hi toms to their natural resonance.
