Was just spinning Freedom to Fly and found myself wondering why we haven't seen a TMac solo tour in recent years. He has clearly done more than enough to separate himself from the brilliant musicians he's worked with. His catalog is rivaled by very few in the realm of guitar mastery. Who else has been awaiting a tour from this fucking guitar genius???

I like his stuff quite a bit myself! Anyone else? Would love to see him live.

I haven't heard him doing anything worthwile in many years. His recent project just does not seem any good from the clips I've heard. But if he played just Maximum Security or something it would be worth it. I really do like his playing. I never thought he was just an yngwie ripoff.

I absolutely love Tony Macalpine and would drive miles to see him play anywhere with anyone. I saw him in a little club in NYC a while back with Derek Sherinian and it was a fantastic performance. The most recent performance I saw was on G3 a couple years ago where he was manning the keyboards. He also came out and did some solos himself. In the lobby some drunk wise ass who thought chicks know nothing about guitar asked me which guitarist I liked best. He then whispered to his friends, "Watch her say Yngwie." I said, "Tony Macalpine, he should be featured in the next G3." That stumped him.

I have had the opportunity to see him on his solo show twice but that was a long time ago. The last time I saw him was with Vai. I did catch a clinic some years back too, that was awesome to say the least

Looks like he's doing a European tour with his new band Devil's Slingshot with Tony MacAlpine, Billy Sheehan and Virgil Donati.

Again the clip I heard wasn't too great (nothing seemed to happen the entire song =/), but I hope the rest of it is better.

Yep, one of my favorites - if you like fusion check out his stuff with CAB, awesome material.
I still like MAXIMUM SECURITY the best as well but there are also killer songs on PREMONITION,
EVOLUTION and CHROMATICITY. Fantastic player...

Huge MacAlpine fan here.

I've seen him solo for may tours, seen him with PX and CAB. If your looking for newer material from him I would get the CAB discs but be warned its Jazz but killer stuff. I've seen a clip for Devils Slingshot but have not picked up the disc.

I'm sure he's doing well touring with G3 / Vai seems like a good money making gig but also a time consuming one too.

I would love to hear him do some metal again.

I'm not sure if Tony has been on since 2004. But maybe. Weiner has been there a couple years I thought?

He (Weiner) has, but as the sole other guitar player on the current tour.
T-Mac came aboard after Keneally made the decision to tour on his own, a couple/few years ago.

I love Tony M's work and the stuff he did with Planet X in it's infancy. He would be a great act to see on the Progpower stage sometime.

Lets try to put together a super band for him.

The only problem is I'd want him to play guitar and keys so I can pick a keyboardist.

Vocals: Russ Allen
Bass: Sean Malone
Drums: Bobby Jarzombek
2nd Guitar: Gus G

I agree 100% Maximum Security is hands down my fav but i love Premonition and Freedom To Fly As Well. Love all his stuff. The last time i saw Tony was at a clinic. I also had a private guitar lesson with him. Ironically he played the chord progression to "I'll be there" Mariah Carey's version not MJ  I ended up soloing over that for 30 minutes and pulling apart the progression and reworking the inversions. Good times...:p Watching him play Etude #4 Opus #10 was definitely something I will never forget.

Well besides Russ Allen, he's fairly fine with the band he has now. Its just a song writing issue. But I'd try to see his new band live if they ever came to the area.

Amen brother. He is amazing and totally needs to put together an American Tour!

Too cool! I wish I could take a private lesson with Tony, I'm sure I could learn quite a lot from him even in a short period of time; I have studied with Joel Gregoire from Stride and Rusty Cooley from Outworld so I have been fortunate with instructors! I noticed Michael Schenker is offering guitar lessons for $500/hour, perhaps Bill Gates needs a tutor...
