too much production and not enough ability

I am gonna see Maiden and Metallica at this years Roskilde soon for the.....well cant remember how many times I have seen them, but I can say, they allways kicks ass live!...

Dimmu were good live.

However, the best live metal band I've ever seen was Cryptopsy. They are the tighest live band. There is close to zero mistakes, and Flo is just a mutant.

I was on Sweden Rock and I think most of the bands I saw there did a good jobb and I must say that Danko Jones was really crazey live, haven't heard any cd with them but they kick ass live :)

It is very difficult to reproduce the studio sound live. We will always have this problem...
Therefore, many bands don't use that perfect production just to have to same sound live.
i'm not talking about sounding the same live as on cd. i'm talking about a bands ability to play at or at least near the level that they do on cd. if the vocalist has a powerful, cutting voice on cd but live sounds like a 12 yr old going through puberty with too tight underwear thats what i'm talking about. groups like the allman bros or deep purple are known to play live shows that are as tight as any studio sound. perfect production is ok if ya can back it up live.
