they had a lasershow and all in germany ... it was kinda interesting tho i would have loved them just to perform and sell tickets cheaper. whatever, have fun
Tools live show is awesome. They're one of the only bands IMO that can really justify charging over £20 for a ticket - other than Radiohead perhaps. Plus reports indicate that Maynard might be getting back to his former self - albeit he'll never be quite as good as back in the Aenima/Lateralus days. Still, definitely work seeing!
they came through town recently...i've kinda grown out of them. i was obsessed when lateralus came out but i think they screwed the pooch with 10k days. plus it was like $50 for nosebleed seats in the auditorium where they were performing. sorry tool, you're not that good. i will admit that it was an amazing show when i saw them in 2001 though.
acrobats hanging from the ceiling, big projection screen showing bizarre animations, psychedelic patterns, etc. Maynard was naked except for shorts, painted blue from head to toe, with a black stripe running down the front of his body. looked cool in the lights.
I saw Tool for the first time exactly a year ago in Oakland and man THAT WAS A GOOD SHOW!! It was time I see that band too because they have been in my playlist consistently since like 96 or something. But yeah, Tool is amazing live, what a great band and the new album is right up there with the best of Tool material. Cant wait to hear some more Pucifer material and then some more Perfect Circle like 10 years from now...
Quite a few people have said that the 10k Days shows don't hold anything on the Lateralus shows...I still bought my tickets last night though, for the Atlantic City date.
They were here for Big Day Out earlier this year. The festival tickets were 120 which I paid for happily. The Tool tickets for their own concerts were 85. Ridiculously overpriced. The show at BDO was pretty good but not up to their reputation, which is acceptable because it was an outdoor daytime festival.
i always enjoy seeing tool live. even if it is a lil over done with the whole lights thing. either way, i hope im going to see them in london in august.
Their shows are supposedly visually spectacular, but the same could be said of Gwar. Unfortunately, their music sucks shit, something else they have in common with Gwar.
whoah, thanks for bringing this tour to my attention. they're doing a lot of midwest dates. i'll be hitting one up. tool's music and shows are awesome.
tool is similar to black metal: repetitive, minimalistic phrases... transcendent, apoctolpytic, sarcastic, and spiritual themes (not just lyrically) etc...
It was effin amazing. Maynard only said one thing through the whole thing, "fantastic" He doesn't talk much, but he didn't have to, the music spoke for itself. The best part imo was when they played Wings for Marie and 10,000 Days, the laser show and the video in the background was amazing. I got my money's worth. It was just 54 bucks, and it was general admission, so I was right in the front row. Fantastic
