ISIS/TooL in Toronto

Oh dear, hope I didn't spoil it for you. Your fave TOOL song? Even though it hasn't been in the recent sets the show is still worthwhile. Trust me. :)

Although you might be using the :erk: face again after you experience the merch prices.

I've heard a bunch of isis and instrumentally i like them (though their production is shit as balls). But vocally i really dont like them. Even the clean vocals are weak.

Aaron isn't a super talented vocalist for sure, but (i think I already said this somewhere) on the new album he has improved his cleans SOOOO much. There are some extremely beautiful vocals on the album. But ya, their music is for the most part instrumental so it doesn't affect it too much. Personally I love his vocals, I just think it fits well, but I don't blame people for not liking them.

I always felt Tool got better as the albums went on. So they covered the 3 best for me. Id rather have more Lateralus than Undertow...

and yes... Isis' vocals rocked the house that night.

Absolutely. Aaron's voice is amazing imo, though like you say, I can certainly see why people can be turned off by them. For me they simply enhance the atmosphere of the music.

Nope. None of that stuff on this leg of the tour. Did the lack of Undertow material diminish the experience for you?

If I don't hear any old stuff tonight I'll be a little upset.
Sober is the song that made them. It should be played every show.
I don't see H on the list either. WTF !!!

makethestringscry: Oh man, that stuff will cost you an arm, two legs, and your first born. But before all that you'll have to queue up in a really looong line! *Muah*

/playful exaggeration

Seriously though, if you're paying your own way through school you might feel the pinch. Otherwise, if the folks are footing the bill and you have some disposable cash, then you may want to splurge. :D

The only item I was interested in purchasing was that new hoodie in one my fotos that was going for 70 but I passed on merch this time. Tees were 40-ish but I don't need another tee (even white ones :p ). They're taking over my closet, along with some girlies. Only one really nice zip hoodie in the bunch. The cash was on hand for the Days hoodie but not the patience to wait in line for it. Besides, the 2 hours of music/ambience magic was worth its weight in...

(and will last longer than a hoodie or tee)

;)

opeth8: Even though you may be disappointed about the lack of older tunes let us know what you think after you've seen the show. We'll already know you'll be bummed if they didn't play what you wanted to hear but please feel free to express any positives you may have experienced. Thanks! :)

Tool show was pretty good. Setlist seemed to be shorter. I counted 10 songs, but I may be wrong ??? Their were no encores which surprised me. Mat'l off the new album while good seemed very slow & repetitive in a live setting. Maynard's voice was good, but he seemed to hold back on the longer notes. The laser show was amongst the best I've seen. The place was mobbed. Didn't get to see Isis.

Thanks for the MASS recap!

According to their schedule they play in D.C. tonight. One can only speculate on the sort of in-between song banter that may be in store for the Beltway people. :heh:

Maynard spoke very briefly a cpl of times. 1st he mentioned something about liking premarital sex which fired up the masses.

Later he said he enjoys internet porn.

Yep, really groundbreaking stuff !

As is his trademark he remained in the back corner of the stage until the set was over. This was my 1st Tool show, but I've seen Perfect Circle before & he did the same thing then.

There were three encores. Lateralus, Vicarious, and Aenima. It was my first tool show and i thought it was amazing. They are dead on live and it was great to see how they actually play the songs. Justin does a lot more than i thought, and i already thought he did a lot.
