Top 5 darkest movies

cube is ace, theres an exapmle of a moviemaker taking some fucking risks instead of playing the shite hollywood game and having a shit monster and a big explosion at the end.

Unbreakable was a very dark movie. I still think this is an under-rated masterpiece. Better than the shite that was 6th Sense anyway.

Unbreakable is amazing, and Cube is really great too.... Especially in the opening scene where that wire stuff goes through the guy and he crumbles into little pieces!
We watched the movie without knowing anything about it, and when that happened we started to get a bit more excited. Now it's an old favourite around here....

My Picks:

Sixth Sense
The Gift (sam raimi is a genious)
Unbreakable (i hated the ending though, the words on the screen that is)
Suspiria
Lost Highway

i must add i was truly disturbed byt the independent film, "They Shoot Movies, Don't They?" Its a documentary about a indie filmmaker in Las Vegas trying to finance a movie he is pitching to some film studios. While the movie is a documentary and is in no way meant at first to shock anyone, the last 10 minutes are truly disturbing. i don't want to give the ending away, but my jaw dropped and i was totally skocked and disturbed by the ending.

Finally somemone who shares my appreciation for The Gift. I really love the scene when Ribisi finds out about his father and the tattoo.

Talking about The Sixth Sense you surely have to reckon the acting class of the boy! It is incredible how he transports the fear. The ending surely is fantastic but the main point in this movie is the boy.

i'd say:

- repulsion(a movie of the 50ies or 60ies about a woman slowly giving in to paranoia)

- event horizon

- lost highway

- the celebration (danish "dogma" movie about a family gathering)
