Tori Amos: raining blood!

Ya'll want to know why our dear Tori (Amos that is) did a cover of what is debatably the great METAL in the history of history itself?
'Cause she thought it was a song 'bout the male view of the female menstual cycle. No kiddin'. That's why she put it on Strange Little Girl, a cover album of songs 'bout women which were written and preformed by men (i.e: Eminem's song Bonny & Clyde , Strange Little Girl by The Strangers, etc).
Now, The Pimp doesn't know what the dudes from Slayer want to talk about when they sat down and wrote Raining Blood but doubtful any of the boys said anything "I know guys. Let's write a song about a chick on the rags and we'll sell a million!".
If anyone has any more info on this, please post it. And yeah, the song sucks.
And The Pimp's apologies to any females that may have been offended anything in this post. I's just passing on what I's heard.
Peace
The Pimp NeonBlack

Not quite what you were looking for Pimp, but here's what she said in an interview

"I said in an article a couple of months ago that "Raining Blood" was not about Satan for me when I first heard it. It was really about seeing this big vagina in the sky raining over Afghanistan, and this was before all this madness on September 11th. This was knowing that the reports in The Guardian, the paper in England, were talking about some of the atrocities that happened to the women, all over the world. So I saw "Raining Blood" as something that has been shamed within us, which is the blood. And as we know it's the blood that doesn't come from violence, it's blood that bleed for purifying and healing, and I really saw it as a very different call than for Satan."

those of you saying it sucks>

do you like any other tori amos songs at all?? is this a "tori has some great songs, but not raining blood!!!" thing? perhaps just hate for the cover because its defiling the almighty slayer and not really taking the song for what it sounds like??

I'm curious ...

"It was really about seeing this big vagina in the sky raining over Afghanistan"

On another note. Tori Amos is great. You're all closed minded metalheads, which is fine, but Tori Amos is not metal, hence you saying "It Sucks" 47.32 billion times.

dude, i like piano stuff... im a huge fan of Zakk Wylde's non-metal work: piano, acoustic, banjo, mandolin, etc.... i just say that it sucks because well... it does! lol.... maybe it would be good if slayer HADNT released it first.... but since they have, i dont like the sounds of "raaaaaaaaiinnniinnnggg... blloooOOOOoooood...from a lacerated.....skyyyyyyyyyyy" i want "RAINING BLOOD!!!! FROM A LACERATED SKY!"

ha ha, fair enough. You were expecting it to be the same...

It's the same with NVRMR's cover of Souds of Silence... do you think the original writer's like it? Hell no!
