Touring keyboards

^^^ agreed, that completely ruined it for me when I saw that song live.. and I was so excited to see it... oh well.

I personally think Per's keyboard parts are quite simple, cliche, and boring... they should just bring steve wilson on tour with them

cliche? yea...because of all the mellotron and organ you hear in death metal these days.

moron

Does Per use a Mellotron live?

Nope, he uses a Korg Triton and a Nord Electro.. A mellotron is just too big, old so you have to be really careful not to harm it, and it can just reproduce that one sound.. While the Nord/Korg both have various sounds in them, such as strings, Hammonds and piano's! And 99,999999% of the viewers/listeners won't even hear the difference!

In fact, the mellotron on Damnation also comes from the Nord Electro.. Sounds really good!

Who cares if he uses a mellotron, CKY used a mellotron all over their second album, and tons of bands use "organs." all the point is per doesn't do anything special with them... the usual choir AHHHHHHSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

As i said, 99,99999 % of the people won't know the difference, especially live... And my guess is you hearing the wrong synths because the newer models sound extremely good... :kickass:

I don't think anyone had told Per yet, but in concert they turn his monitors off. He's just their because Mikael thinks keyboards will make them look better on MTV, which is really where he wants to succeed. On the next album, Per will be playing a grand piano, and Mikael will stand on top of the piano and wail through 2 minute whiny solos. Mendez will dye his hair blond, get a nose ring and start a vicious cocaine habit, which will cause his head to bob erratically when he attempts to headbang. Peter will wear sunglasses on stage and lots of bandanas and smoke like a chimney. Finally, Lopez (or Axenrot) will come out of the closet and be the first heavy metal drummer / raging inferno of homosexuality.

Why is it I liked GnR so much when I was younger? I'm so glad I've reached the age of enlightenment.

Sorry for the rant. I feel better now.

HAHAHAHAHA. That reference to the November Rain vid was awesome.

Maybe some people can hear something distinct in the original that most other people can't, and that distinct character is completely lost in something that emulates the original, no matter how close it comes.

Like Leslie Cabinet emulators. I've yet to hear something that sounds like the real thing. And I've yet to hear a really expensive synth that has wood that resonates like a concert grand piano.

Having never seen Opeth live, and won't be able until they come to Scotland.......please:worship: , I wondered if keyboards have been incorporated into their earlier stuff, still life and pre.. and if so, does it sound better or worse than origionally intended. Thoughts, if any please!
If this has been asked before, please be gentle with me, I am just off my night shift and fragile :notworthy

yeah they do add keyboards to the older stuff. just think of "when"with a killer keyboard arrangement:rock:
