Last time I heard about Treat I was listening to their Organized Crime record and thought it was decent but it was no Dreamhunter. After that, the band went off my radar and apparently they reunited after thirteen years to record this album. Time and growing up can make wonders for people and that applies for bands as well. I was caught off guard after I heard this album as I did not expect it to be this good. Yet, it is and it's the best of their career.
The War is Over gets thing moving fast and heavy but the record does not start blowing me away until All In, comes in and gives me that crunchy rock and roll sound with a big chorus. Paper Tiger continues the treatment with a great riff accompanied by the keyboards and another catchy chorus. The record continues down a variety of styles with lots of great tunes like the AOR-dish We Own The Night (this song is infectious) or the heavy and epic Skies of Mongolia. Ballad A Life To Die For is a sure hit for me and it's the only soft song in the album. The rest is just a variety of hard rocking tunes with great choruses and a maturity that logically this band did not possess before. If it took them 20+ years to record a album like this one, believe me it was well worth it. The only song I didn't like was Tangled Up but the rest is rock solid.
The band performs real well, Robert's voice sound real good and Anders Wikstrom has really conjured up a wonderful record here. This is a band that sounds more focused, heavier and smarter then ever before. Fans of the band will no doubt enjoy this album easily. Welcome Back!
