hey guys,

i just recorded and roughly mixed a new track.
i am satisfied with it so far but i think it could be much more transparent.
what do you think, how could i improve the mix!?

hows the playing? tried to make it really tight,
unfortunately i am not the best guitar/bas splayer, did my best.

at least, hows the track!?

cheers
S.

It's sounding pretty muddy overall. Drums sound good, are they SSD? I like the bass tone. What are guitars? they sound really muddy.
It's clipping, like if you distorted the master bus intentionally. I'm not digging that.

Keep working on it, it's a good starting point ;)

@LosingReality
thanks for the comment!:)
i used the VH4 and the 5150 sim from my axe-fx.
2x VH4, 2x 5150, all recorded directly into my DAW.

cheers

drums: DFH /SSD3.0
i wanted this to sound raw, i really like the "muddy" thing.
i have to check this for clipping, i guess i made something
wrong while getting this loud.

I don't think its sounds that muddy. Its really about preference. If you like a more thick sounding mix rather than a very technical leady mix then I wouldn't consider it muddy at all.

@Dandelium
RAW RULEZ! :D

@Iamsparrow
thx 4 listening man!

@2000ContourSVT
thx for listening!
yeah i messed it up by setting too much compression.
here's a new try. i used less compression here.

NEW TRY

The cymbals have to much high-frequenzies. They sound really hissy.

I agree on the guitartone sounding muddy, but I guess it's a taste thing.

Mix is pumping alot. Especially on the kick, snare and the high toms.
