trigger to daw

im getting some ddrum triggers (the xlr ones) and i was wondering do i need to input them into an alesis drum trigger box thing or can i just run the xlr's into my desk,from there run them into my daw and then trigger the hits through drumagog?

sorry - this has prob been asked before but i cant find it in the forum

yeah, you can just plug in to your interface and trigger off them, a lot of the time you dont even need a preamp, the output is pretty hot

usually the drum brains (i.e. drum modules/samplers) are for live use, or if you want to use those tones for recording.

i only have 10 inputs with my firepod, so running the midi out from my dm5 to the fp allows me one more track essentially, as i always trigger the bass drum

i run my triggers direct to the interface.. no need for a drum brain in the studio, imo i would rather trigger direct..
