Trip to LA. Need your help!

Since I will be traveling to Los Angeles and San Francisco next month, I wanted to ask if you guys could give me some recommendations of things and special places I need to see. Especially music and recording related but I'm open for everything.
I'd like to visit the Capitol records building for example. Is there some kind of tour?

Oh and btw. Do you guys know of a store in LA that sells used recording equipment, guitar amps and stuff like that? Probably every pawn shop does that, but you never know.

Take a day and go to Venice Beach. Try to go on a weekday, and just chill the fuck out. That's what I like to do as a local anyway.

Edit: There are also lot's of trails and state parks and what not in the Los Angeles believe it or not. If that's your thing than send me a PM I can give you some ideas. I don't know too much about city happenings however.
