Firstly I jung shit on Violet Femmes due to Blister In the Sun , seriously do you think I was having a real stab at their music , because you know me by now , I am a comical stupafuck who likes to post rubbish the same as everyone else who posts on these forums ,most forums exist because people like to talk shit , as for the rest of Violet Femmes' music ,I have heard their stuff years ago and am not interested so from what I know of them , so crucify me .
I dont look at a band as being shit because they get radio airplay , Evanescence get radio airplay and I fucking love their music , there are many bands that are on radio that I do enjoy just like there are so many bands that are not metal that I do enjoy and have vast quantities of their cd's etc ,I've been a collector for many years, and the whole hippie stab is just me having fun , not being serious , some of my closest friends are hippies .
Another point being here that you wrote I would like to write about.... VP hasnt had any serious radio airplay here yet, overseas we have a good fan base , in Australia it is slowly growing , our songs are catchy to a person who has tastes to our kind of music , maybe we suck ass in peoples eyes , maybe we dont , to some our songs are catchy, to others we suck , I dont lost sleep over this because at the end of the day people have their own opinions, this is not arrogance , it is the way I am with the music I write , in other words I write it first and foremost for myself to enjoy and if people like it then its a bonus .
Success is proven in many ways and just because a band does not have "serious" airplay , does not mean the band is unsuccessful.
Music is music , it does not have to have upteen time changes or fast appegio solos for me to like it , in fact I like the simpler approach to music and the more melodic it is then the more I like it .
Just because something is not metal does not mean I dont like it , in fact I have been very open minded to all forms of music for many years , not only because I'm a muso , but also because I enjoy music for what it is.
I'm a big fan of celtic/folk music for instance , I love classical music, metal music , I have been a huge death metal fan for years as well as a big fan of new age music .
Another thing , the majority of the metal scene in Australia is not made up of people who work like dogs and piss their money against the wall on the weekend , some people are pissheads...good luck to them........, agreed , yet to generalize about aussie metalheads being irresponsible in this regard in my opinion is silly.
Nevertheless I like your post and I respect your opinion , I just thought I'd throw my 5 cents in

Seriously, go pick up one of their albums. It contains more songs than blister in the sun. To boot,they are all good,fun,catchy songs. They tour constantly,they give their fans what they want, what more do you want from a band? Do they not do enough time changes for you or something?
Just because something is not metal, doesn't make it shit. I thought someone who is supposedly an accomplished musician would realise this.
