Truly old school

thanks, for your support. I guess your not a slayer fan but for me, Hell Awaits represents a lot. some of my friends really hate the production of that album, but I think it just gives it an evil feeling that only deicide could match.
:kickass:

actually I'm a huge Slayer fan and saw them live first time back in 1990 with Biohazard and White Zombie... I like every album from their debut up to Seasons in the Abyss... I'ts just that I know your a newbie and not aware of it but threads on Slayer and the other big Thrash bands from the 80's have been discussed thousands of times on this forum... go do a search of "Slayer"... so your post is nothing new... plus you didn't say much in your post to warrant a discussion... saying : "Slayer-Hell Awaits.... Kill Again!!" ... doesn't say much to start a discussion... perhaps tell us what you want to discuss about that album.. is it your favorite Slayer album? Only Slayer album you heard so far? Which are your favorite tracks? etc.. etc.. start a discussion and not a rant... as for the production I don't think it's bad at all and as for evil feeling... there are countless bands and albums that do that as well... which bands other then Slayer and Deicide do you listen to? I'm a oldie who first got into metal in 1983 (i'm old.. 35 in June lol ) so i can give you a decent list of other bands and albums you might like as well that are "evil feeling"... for starters get all of Slayers albums up to Seasons in the Abyss and also Divine Intervention... second if you like Deicide then get Vital Remains - Dechristianize album... it has Glen Benton as the vocalist and is very "evil feeling and sounding" ....

Ok You are right I'm a newbie in net-related things, for a long time I refused to use the internet or to dowload music like others do( I own more than 300 albuns).I'm 30 years old and I don't need your advise music wise. I listen to a lot of things: Opeth Testament Usurper Megadeth Exodus Possessed Dismember Brutal Truth Municipal Waste Carcass Kreator Samael Nevermore My Dying Bride Nile Morbid Angel Obituary Pestilence Cynic Sinister Amorphis Overkill Cannibal Corpse Immolation Vader Dark Angel Pantera .......................................
I know Vital Remains for a long time now I even own Dawn of the Apocalypse but I've never been a big fan of the band.
I guess you thought I was just another 15/16 year old kid and you wanted to impress me.
I'm sorry if my english it's not very good .

1. I don't download music or burn CD's neither... i consider myself a collector of original CD's and such... i still have 100's of cassettes from the 80's

2. If you don't want advice that is fine but most of us here ask for advice so we don't regret a purchase...

3. Based on your list I will recommend 2 or 3 bands you might not have that I myself like... you might like them yourself if you do not have them (again just a list since i don't know everything you have):
a. Belphegor
b. Dissection
c. Bathory
d. Behemoth
e. Emperor
f. Immortal
g. Satyricon (first 3 albums only)
h. Bloodbath

4. Yes I thought you were a 15 yr old because you only ranted in your original post and if you explore this Forum you will see alot of that from the young ones

5. Not trying to impress anyone.. just trying to help or suggest bands/albums like others do to me when I'm not sure what CD to get or Band to explore...

6. Your english is fine... anyways sorry if I wasted your time... But you still haven't said anything worth a discussion about Slayer or Hell Awaits... My personal favorite album is probably South of Heaven... Reign in Blood used to be but it's outgrown me though I listen to it once in awhile....

It's impossible to me to pick a Slayer album as my favourite. I love all their albums 'till Divine Intervention.Like I said before Hell awaits it's kind of special to me, I still remember 10 years ago when I saw cannibal Corpse in Oporto they choose to play that entire album before entering the stage, for me that was best than the show itself.I've listen to Reign in blood so much that I kinda get tired, it's still the best Slayer album, I guess. Thank you for your suggestions but I know almost all the bands you picked, i've never been a big black metal fan but I like Summoning, Satyricon, Arcturus or Enslaved.
I hope we can start all over again without any hard feelings, you someone who knows is metal

Welcome to the board Demonseed. I think you'll fit in very well, and I hope you stick around.

No hard feelings. Have to get you into BM more though :p Out of curiosity which Satyricon albums you have? ... I have Enslaved's Isa album but never really got into them as well as for Summoning... Summoning is unique for a BM band since they are obsessed with that whole Lord of the Rings thing. Arcturus I never heard. I know who they are but never got any of their albums. Wouldn't know where to start with them. Perhaps we can burn CD's for each other and trade.

Same here, download is soulless :ill: (except for pre-purchase check purposes).

Oh just for the thread sake, I don't like Slayer :D

NP: Memento Mori - 'The Seeds Of Hatred'

Arcturus are more a progrssive band than pure blak metal, they have a strange sound with lots of influences, I think you should start by their classic La Masquerade Infernale. Last Enslaved album Ruun is very good and I'm shure you'll love it.
Satyricon - Nemesis divina
- Vocano
- Diabolical Now

Do you guys think Slayer sell out or just changed or evolved?
How many of you like the 3 last albums?

I'll never call them Sell-Outs, they have changed(evolved) a bit over the years but I for one like their latest two albums a lot.
I'm not a fan of "Evil" as such but the music kiks ass and that's why I'll buy it.

Arcturus I'll definetly consider... i just hope they do not disappoint me like Summoning did... Maybe i'll listen to some of their clips first... Enslaved is ok but perhaps i need a better album then Isa which i have.. .as for Satyricon.. im not a fan of their Black "n" Roll style ala Volcano.. I have Volcano (it scratched and i don't plan to buy it again) and even though i liked it at first... after hearing their first two albums (Dark Medieval Times and The Shadowthrone) I changed my mind... I definetly will get their Nemesis Divina album... someone told me that Satyr was 17 when he first made those recordings.. that boggles my mind... he was a very talented kid back then....
