Trying my newly aquired Peavey Tube Bass Preamp on Gtrs for fun

The preamp is going through the power section of my 6505.
I had to push things a bit harder than usual with my OD808 and used my Triple XXX cabinet for a change. I recently swapped the speakers for 2 V30 and 2 greenbacks cause I never really liked the sheffield XXX.

I like the saturation in the tone, definitely a usable sound.

Did you compare it against the actual preamp of the 6505 ?
It would be cool to hear how the overall sound would change and
especially the mids.

It can get pretty close in term of voicing but sounds much less compressed and not as "open" in the highs. It has its own thing going on. I'll make a comparison when I have more free time.

Sounds pretty cool!

Too bad about the Sheffield speakers, but V30's and Greenbacks mix well. I have a mix like that in my Marshall cab.
