The first has more options, like a second boost channel that seems pretty cool, but it's roughly the same price as a new TS9. The second is about $30-40 cheaper and is a simpler design, more to the heart of a TS808. If you're looking for versatility then get the first, but if you want a good tone that's cost effective then get the second. Either way you should be fine.

I built the OD-2 from BYOC and I like it a lot. I opted for the Burr Brown OPA2134 chip and swapped a few caps to get a little better tone response. Assembly was a breeze with the exception of the true bypass switches. Those things were a bitch.

ts 7 is good pedal especialy when you mod it to ts808 spec. It's cheap, built like a tank and nice looking too.

I have a TS-808 clone from BYOC.
It is the model that doesn't has a boost, nor any mod on it (forgot the model #). The building went as a breeze (I had already manipulated a soldering iron before, but not that much), and the result is real nice sounding, and way more rewarding than just go and buying one.
Also, quick tip: if you build it yourself with a DIY, paint the enclosure BEFORE building it, or else you'll have to unsolder a couple wires wich is a bummer when all's working.
