Well, I'm considering ordering some DIY kits on http://www.generalguitargadgets.com/
namely the ITS8 (Tube Screamer) and the P45 phaser.

Did anyone built one of those, or any other from this site?
I can read schematics, I can solder, I know physics and electronics enough so the chances of electrocution are pretty slim [], but I've never built a pedal, so I'm lacking the experience.

So, what I'm asking is what are your thoughts on all this, about these specific kits, about other kits that might be better, what should I watch for when I'm ordering and building one?

Any help appreciated, as usual;)

I haven't bought any of their kits or anything. But I use their site all the time for their schematics and PCB layouts. Their kits are a great deal and they save you all the hard and frustrating parts of the metal work, sourcing parts, PCB etc. Too bad they aren't painted, that would really be sweet.

For me I am all set-up to do that and if I didn't have so much stock piled up (got a good deal on enclosures and copper-clad a while back) I would probably buy the kits.

The ITS8 is particularly cool since it has a few easy to implement mods ready to go. And the price honestly isn't that far off from sourcing it yourself. They ain't gettin' rich off it!

Pedals are a great way to start. They are pretty simple and cheap to build. Plus they are low voltage so pretty safe and parts are cheap if you burn one up. The hardest parts for me is getting all the stuff to fit in the box and making the outside look pretty.
