Does anyone know if Insomnia is a spin off of the Dark Tower.

I,ve started that book twice and never finished it, maybe if I read The Dark Tower it will all become clear........

quick ?? Are the Dark Tower books Novellas\Novelletes or bible sized King books. With my attention span I do better with the Novellas\Novelletes and short stories.
