Can the tunebot drum tuner accurately read from a studio monitor?

Say i want to tune my drums close to a specific sample pack or even try to recreate an old drums sound. can i hold the tunebot next to the speaker and get an raw idea?

Hope this question isn't super dumb.

Why not just try running a tuner plugin that reads Hz on it, and then use the tune bot to match? As far as your question, I'd give it a shot with mine, but I'm currently transitioning between setups and have no way to send signal to my monitors right now or I'd try it.

You'll only get the fundamental pitch of the drum, but you you dont know the pitch-difference between batter- and reso-head.
another problem is that not all drum-shells and skins have the same "tuning-range", espesically lower-cost-drumshells! and the mounting-system has also a lot to do with the sound (resonance).
so i recomend you to spend (alot of) time with your drumkit and learn it's tuning-ranges and the zones where it sounds the best.
if you only want to know the fundamental pitch of a specific sample, just use your ears and a frequency-generator. good ear-training by the way ;)

This is great advice.

The Tunebot will work on a studio monitor, but like he said, it's better to focus on finding the tunings that work best for your particular drums.
