i really don't know if his albums are sold all around the world but he is known in Europe, he had many concerts there with his band "Telvin". i guess you can find some of his records on amazon or ebay. thanks for the response btw.

though i'm not a huge fan of the 'world music' label with is stuck with pretensions (IMO), i love listening to folk music.
check out the Master Musicians of Joujouka from Morocco, the Baul Singers of West Bengal (India), Ry Cooder with Ali Farka Toure (Mali) and Tinariwen if you can, I'm sure an open mind will gobble these artists up.
