Two Towers

For those of you who haven't seen in there, here's what I thought about it as posted at Talkmovies.net

Well, it didn't deviate from the story as much as I'd heard. The Warg attack and Aragorn's disappearance was a device to explore the relationship between he and Arwen a bit further. Apart from that, it was a bit pointless. The motivation of the Ents was changed too, but if they'd focused on that the way Tolkien did the movie would have been three hours longer. Don't really know why the Ringbearers ended up in Osgiliath though. There was enough conflict going on without changing Faramir's character as well.
The Battle at Helm's Deep was awesome. I can't wait to see what the Battle of the Pelennor Fields is going to be like. The wrath of the Ents was pretty cool too, and the mumakil scene was brilliant! If there was a real fault, it was that there's too much toing and froing going on, but the book was like that, so it's not really the film's fault, I guess.

Yeah, they way they did Faramir was a bit weird...he was supposed to be more, well, nice heh. But maaaaaan, the battle at Helm's Deep. WOAH. And Gollum/Smeagol was done very well too.

HOW ABOUT THAT LEGOLAS...PHWOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAR!!!

Saw it yesterday.

Of course everytime a name is mentioned I have no idea who that is, as they are all weird ass words...

But the movie was action packed, amazing effects I thought... nearly exploded in an agoraphobic nightmare when Gandalf was falling and attacking the firey dude. I swear the cinema was turning upside down...

I should read the book eh...

Whats the next one called? Nightfall in Middle Earth? If so, Blind Guardian should provide their album for the soundtrack... fuck that'd get them popular...

The next one is Return of the King. Nightfall in Middle Earth (the album) is based on part of The Silmarillion, which is set before The Hobbit and LOTR... something like that, anyway.

Surfing down the stairs at Helm's Deep on an orc shield. Haha! That was cool.

Wouldn't fuck him, though.

The Silmarrilion is the complete history of Middle-earth from the Creation to the end of the Third Age of Sun (the death of Aragorn).

I haven't read it. How does it deal with the whole Hobbit/LOTR bit?

"Bilbo found a ring. He gave it to Frodo. Then there was some fighting and general nastiness. Then Frodo destroyed the ring."

Yep, that's about it! The entire story of those four books takes up less than a page in the 'Silmarillion'.

Aragorn dies? In LOTR? I haven't read the books yet (heresy, I know).

No. He doesn't die in the Lord of the Rings. In the full three-volume edition, one of the appendices tells the story of Aragorn and Arwen, telling of their life after the War of the Ring. Aragorn eventually dies (because he's a Numenorean, he's actually a couple of hundred years old and can choose the moment he wishes to die), and Arwen dies as well. The interesting thing about the character of Aragorn is, of course, that at the time of the book, he's actually about 70 or 80 years old.
