Tyranny of Souls

I haven't heard it.

But I haven't actually heard any solo Bruce.

Apart from one listen on a triple J compilation a couple of years ago. Didn't give me a stiffy, so I never followed up. It sounded a lot more chug-riffage... whereas I see his voice being suited to more melodic riffage.

That's pretty crazy.. You really should give them all a good listen.
EVERY BRUCE ALBUM IS BETTER THAN ANY POST 1990 MAIDEN ALBUM.

Furthermore.. I'm listening to Disc 2 of the Balls To Picasso re-issue right now and it's just like having another new Bruce album! :headbang:

Thats a poor excuse, that style is only in a few songs here and there on The Chemical Wedding, and it is good anyway.
Some of the melodic stuff on Accident Of Birth will make you shit your pants, guaranteed.

Ceydn, you mean you own Load, Re-Load and St Anger, but no Brucey? Christ mate, priorities!

I like ToS, but am getting fucking sick of the line "navigate the seas of the sun".

Otherwise, it's a good listen...AND I can play it at work because it doesn't have all that copy stuff on Dance of Death.

I think Mr Harris may have had a hand in the writing of that chorus.. :Spin:

That's why mp3s will only cause losses to shit top 40 artists with two decent songs per album.

Tyranny of Souls is a bit disappointing. And is it just me or is the intro very Spinal Tap? It reminds me of Nigel stepping up to the mic in the movie with the hood drawn over his head and talking about Stonehenge, especially where he says the bit about 'there lived a mysterious race.... the druids..' (I can't remember the exact wording!)

Don't get me wrong, I love Bruce's solo stuff and as far as I'm concerned having Maiden put out albums plus him doing solo stuff just means we get to hear him twice as much, which is great. I'm just not impressed by this album. As I mentioned in another thread it sounds slapped together.

I still think it's strange that it turned out like that, given how long he had to work on it. I suppose Roy Z was busy for a while etc.

I'm starting to get into it... I don't think it's one of his best though.

Then again, when I first got Chemical Wedding I thought it was "just ok", and after a while I started to think it was one of the greatest things ever recorded - so maybe this one will grow on me as well.
